Go to the Pont des Amoureux, which translates as the Lovers’ Bridge, and add a padlock with your initials to the collection, all while looking over the Seine. If the weather is on-point, have a picnic at the stunning Buttes Chaumont park, and its exotic trees and plants. Climb up to the top and see amazing views of the capital. You can even see the Sacré Coeur from here!
Speaking of the Sacré Coeur, Montmartre is an equally stunning setting for your couple’s getaway. The Sacré Coeur gives you a beautiful view of the city, and once you have walked down all the steps, you can discover the local restaurants and bars for a delicious dinner. Nearby, at Abbesses, there is the Mur des Je T’aime (the Wall of I Love Yous). “I Love You” is written in 250 languages, 311 times. This wall is a great opportunity for the two of you to take a cute photo!
Marrakech
Why is Marrakech one of the most romantic cities in the world? It is a diverse city that combines modernity and tradition, giving you access to a wide variety of activities. Marrakech is renowned for its beautiful gardens, but we think you should stop by Menara Gardens. Look at the glistening waters and wander between the olive trees. The city has plenty of bars and restaurants for you to choose from to discover local cuisine, but try and book a table at a rooftop terrace to watch the sun set over Marrakech.
Marrakech is also known for its epic spas. Book an appointment at a private spa to enjoy a couple’s massage, and kick back and relax in the hammams. The perfect way to wind down after a long day exploring!
Venice
Venice is one of the most romantic cities in Italy. Needless to say, the first activity you just have to do is to get a gondola ride for two across the city to really admire its natural beauty. You can find gondolas waiting by most of the major bridges – just choose according to the area you want to discover! An exciting landmark to discover is Doge’s Palace. Built during the 10th and 11th centuries, it is an eclectic mix of Moorish, Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Nearby, you’ll find the Bridge of Sighs, the most iconic bridge in the city. Rumor has it that any couples that kiss under this bridge can expect eternal happiness and love.
If you’re an avid theater-goer, then watch an opera at Teatro La Fenice. The ancient opera house is simply stunning, and remains in excellent condition. You can even get a guided tour if you want to learn of the theater’s history!
Bruges
Bruges, in Belgium, will make the picture-perfect couple’s getaway. It’s a medieval town with fairytale-esque architecture and cobblestone streets. If you are planning on visiting around Christmas time, you and your loved one should stop off at the Christmas market and try out the delicious street food and bring back a few souvenirs! If you want to stay in the fairytale theme, then you can get a horse and carriage ride all over Bruges. See the city comfortably and romantically. Of course, Belgium is renowned for its chocolate, so you need to stop off at the amazing array of chocolate shops, and even treat yourself to a Belgian hot chocolate. Yes, the hot chocolate is on another level here!
Another way you can explore the city is via its canals. Hop on a canal cruise tour and take in the spectacular views. Finish your day by stopping off at Burg Square at one of its many cafés, or by discovering the city hall. You’ll love Bruges for its quirkiness and quaintness.
Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires is the most romantic city in Argentina. You’ll fall in love with its dynamic city life and the country’s culture. In Buenos Aires, you can watch an authentic Argentine tango – as it’s the dance of passion and love, it seems appropriate, right? Treat yourselves to a candlelit dinner while watching some talented professionals perform at the luxurious Faena Hotel in Puerto Madero. And why not try to learn some moves yourselves? Love is in the air here, Casa Rosada was the home to President Juan Peron and the first lady Eva Peron, and they were adored by their citizens while Peron was in office. Free guided tours are available in English on Saturdays so you can learn about the pink palace’s history.
The most romantic spot in the city is the Puente de la Mujer, or the Woman’s Bridge. World-renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava designed this, and it is striking at sunset.
Rome
Rome is one of the most romantic cities in the world thanks to its ancient architecture, beautiful water fountains and its incredible atmosphere. Go for a romantic stroll around the Trevi Fountain, which makes a picturesque backdrop for any cute couple photos. Toss a coin into the fountain with your right hand over your left shoulder with your back to the fountain, this means you will return to Rome. And for singletons, if you throw two coins over your shoulder, you will return to Rome and find love. If you’re feeling ambitious, then three coins mean that you will return to Rome and marry the love of your life! If you want to see more of Rome in all its glory, get a horse and carriage ride all over the fantastic city. You will be in awe of Rome’s ancient landmarks.
Rome also has stunning green spaces for you to discover with someone special. The Villa Borghese landscape gardens are quiet and intimate, and will allow you to feel transported from Rome’s busy city life. Continue your romantic stroll throughout the park through its winding pathways. You can even go for a romantic bike ride, before ending the day with a picnic!
Kyoto
Kyoto may not be known for its romantic atmosphere as much as cities like Paris and Rome, but it is a lover’s paradise. Its setting is paradise, with the city’s beautiful light pink cherry blossoms that line the streets. To admire these blossoms in all its splendor, we recommend renting a private boat in Arashiyama and taking in the scenery. Want to see more of the cherry blossom? Get the perfect photo on the Philosopher’s Path. If you want to see more of Kyoto’s past, then the Imperial Palace will be one of your stops. The Japanese royal family no longer live here, but you’ll be impressed by its striking architecture, and its Imperial Library.
If you both love all things royal, then be sure to visit Himeji Castle. Set on a hilltop, the landmark dates back to the 14th century. People fall in love with its imperial style, and beautiful grounds. Another way you can explore the city romantically is with a rickshaw tour, the guided tours allow you to choose which areas you wish to see. You’ll love seeing the old Japanese wooden buildings and stone alleys along the way.
Prague
Prague is the perfect destination for a romantic European break. You will fall for its gothic architecture and cobblestone streets. It is a historically and culturally rich city, giving you plenty of choice in places to visit as a couple. Like in Paris, Prague has its own equivalent of the Lovers’ Bridge, in Mala Strana. Add a padlock to the Lovers’ Bridge in the city to show your enduring love for one another. We also recommend exploring the vineyards in Viniční altán. A short car ride from the old town, you can enjoy the open-air wine garden. You can get tasting the locally made red wine and take in the views! Want to enjoy a fine dining experience, Czech style? Then in the old town, there are quaint cobbled streets where you can find some of the city’s best restaurants to have your dinner for two at.
While in Prague, you just have to watch an opera at the Prague National Theater! Go out for a classy night out in the city’s most amazing venue. The theater will simply take your breath away!
