They Wouldn’t Listen

He was waiting at his window with a wide grin on his face. He had his phone in his hand, recording everything.

At first, he had always been polite, but they wouldn’t listen to him. They made it clear that if he wanted them to stop, he would have to put more drastic steps into action. The next person that chose to cut across his lawn was going to be in for a nasty surprise.

Perfect Home

When Thomas Lyons first moved into his beautiful, 3-bedroom, corner-plot home, he was ecstatically happy.

They had a huge yard, which meant that there was more than enough room for the kids to play and for his wife to have her very own, respectable herb garden. But Thomas’ favorite part of the entire house was the sprawling, emerald-green front yard. Everything about their new home was perfect, it felt too good to be true, and it was.

Annoying Habit

Thomas couldn’t remember when it all started. Perhaps it had started before he even moved in. But there was once thing that really got under his skin. People in their area had an annoying habit of cutting across his yard.

If it had happened every once in a while because someone wasn’t paying attention, it wouldn’t matter so much. He would be okay with that, but that wasn’t the case.

It got so bad that he was forced to set up a camera. In the span of 24 hours, he caught 30 pedestrians, 8 bikers, and two strollers.

Thomas was an understanding man, he never wanted to come across as unreasonable. He politely asked the people in the area not to use his lawn as a shortcut. But unfortunately, no one listened to him, some even ignored his request right in his face. They would continue to plod across his lawn.

Expensive Solution

One neighbor suggested that he add a fence, but after investigating the paperwork, fees, and cost of putting up the fence, he found that it was too expensive.

Thomas’s blood would boil every time he saw someone cross his lawn. He remembered when he was young, he would always get throttled for trespassing. But the foot traffic was showing no signs of leaving, so he knew that he had to take things into his own hands.

The senor triggered, setting off an impressively loud alarm. But then the sprinkler set into motion too.

Thomas had set the sprinkler to the strongest, direct stream. He made sure that whoever trespassed would get a powerful blast of ice-cold water. The next victims were a gaggle of middle school girls. They screamed and ran to the sidewalk, just like the lady before them. Thomas watched, throwing his head back as he laughed. Now there was one more thing to do.

This was too good, he loved watching the recordings. He just had to share it on social media! He spliced a few clips together and uploaded them to his TicTok account.

But he received mixed reactions. The negative comments frustrated Thomas to a whole new level. He wanted to reach through the phone and shake the people on the other end of the line.

Many people praised him for his trap – they were trespassing after all.
